Reasons to Live Here

Here is a page of information on the Table Mesa area, geared to people who are considering living there. Here is a page sharing specific demographic data for the 80305 zip code.

Every real estate agency has a different description for South Boulder, it seems. Some of them leave Martin Acres out of it, some omit Lower Chautauqua and some consider everything north of TM something other than South Boulder. Some of 'em ignore everything East of Broadway. For SoboTalk purposes, everything south of Baseline is South Boulder. (Should it be SoBa, instead - South of Baseline?) We have not been requiring proof-of-residency in any case. The photo above shows a neighborhood cat taking part with her owner in a reiki-for-pets class at the South Boulder Recreation Center.

SoboTalk in the Camera

There was a story about our SoboTalk group in the Daily Camera, and it brought us a bunch of new members - our first members, to be exact. The strange thing is that another email group that I moderate, called Ask! in Boulder, was mentioned in the same story, and we didn't get any new members on that group after the story ran in the paper. Maybe it's because there was no url in the story for the Ask! in Boulder group. So people will actually sit at a screen and type in a url?
The thing about South Boulder is that there's a hub, at Table Mesa and Broadway. So people feel like they're part of a neighborhood even though the area is large. SoboTalk is closing in on 100 members already. The smallworldliness of it is comical - one person heard me sing at church but didn't know it was me singing. I was singing "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth." You know that one.

Snow probably done but "you never know for sure"

Here is a story about this morning's hailstorm in South Boulder. The weather person quoted in the story says the snow is probably over for this year but you never know for sure. Ay carumba.

SoboTalk Discussion Community Launches

The SoboTalk online discussion community is two weeks old, and has 75 members. New members are joining every day. So far we've learned two things about South Boulderites:
  • They have lots of babies, and
  • Many of them think their yard is the messiest on the block.

If you want to know more about the SoboTalk discussion or have South Boulder questions, please leave a comment on our blog or write to us at liz at asklizryan dot com.

Our member Tamara has suggested a SoboTalk get-together when we reach 150 members. Shouldn't be long!
